Jack Johnson Tickets – Jack Johnson to Play Mile High Music Festival While on Tour
Everyone’s favorite surfer-turned-musician Jack Johnson is touring in support of his fifth studio album To the Sea this summer, and Pollstar.com reported that he will make a stop at Denver, Colorado’s Mile High Music Festival while on the road. The festival takes place at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Aug. 14 and 15 and will see Johnson co-headlining with the Dave Matthews Band. Johnson and the Steve Miller Band will lead the bill for the first day of the event—which will also feature performances by artists like Phoenix, Keller Williams, Donavon Frankenreiter and others—while DMB will perform along with My Morning Jacket, Weezer, Atmosphere and more on the second and final day of the Mile High Music Festival.
The follow-up to his 2008 platinum-selling album Sleep Through the Static, To the Sea will arrive via Johnson’s own Brushfire Records on June 1. According to the official Universal Republic Records site, the album was co-produced by Johnson and his bandmates Merlo Podlewski (bass), Zach Gill (keyboard) and Adam Topol (drums) with Johnson’s longtime engineer Robert Carranza. Johnson recorded To the Sea at his pair of solar-powered studios: The Mango Tree in his native Hawaii and the Solar Powered Plastic Plant in Los Angeles. “You and Your Heart,” the lead single off To the Sea, arrived on April 3 and features the mellow-minded artist singing the chorus, “But you and your heart / Shouldn’t feel so apart / You can choose what you take / Why you gotta break and make it feel so hard.”
Before he embarks on his summer road trip, Johnson will host the Kokua Festival in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 23 and 24. According to Johnson’s official website, the Kokua Hawai’i Foundation supports environmental education in the communities and schools of Hawaii and the festival is its biggest fundraiser of the year. Johnson’s tour in support of To the Sea will officially launch from Berlin, Germany on June 16, after which point he will stop in European cities like Amsterdam, Netherlands; Paris, France; Cornwall, England; Somerset, England (at the Glastonbury Festival); London, England; and Roskilde, Denmark (for the Roskilde Festival) through early July.

A R Rahman Live in Music Concert on October 11th Chennai
A R Rahman Live in Music Concert on October 11th Chennai
Double Oscar-winning music composer A R Rahman embarked on his much awaited ‘Jai Ho’ concert from October 11 here. Allah Rakha Rahman is an Indian film composer, record producer, musician and singer. His film scoring career began in theearly 1990s. He has won thirteen Filmfare Awards, four National Film Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe and two Academy Awards. Working in India’s various film industries, international cinema and theatre, by 2003, Rahman, in a career spanning over a decade, has sold more than 100 million records of his film scores and soundtracks worldwide, and sold over 200 million cassettes, making him one of the world’s all-time top selling recording artists. This is the first time that Rahman performed in Chennai after bagging the Academy Awards for his musical score in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire.
Rahman told reporters before the concert that he was really looking forward to it. `This year there is more focus on conducting Indian concerts and starting from Chennai, it will go on,` Rahman added. The composer said the concert would have a mix of songs including tracks from his upcoming Bollywood film, `Blue`. Though he has been promoting his son Alim, who wants to become a playback singer, the six-year-old did not participate in the concert. The A.R Rahman concert on October 11th exceeded all expectations and believe us -the expectations were high!
The crowd was extremely enthusiastic and vociferous at times though a common complaint was poor crowd management. One of the highlights of the evening was when Rahman sang the song `Jiya se Jiya` from a crane. Most of the crowd was on its feet swaying to the beat with him. Later during the night Rahman played the piano and sang some beautiful love songs. Singer Hariharan joined him on stage for a touching rendition of the song `Tamizha tamizha` which had most of the crowd on its feet while swaying the Indian flag.

Music Gear for Concerts
Music Gear for Concerts
A concert is a live performance of music before an audience. This kind of performance may be performed either by a single musician, referred as recital or by a musical ensemble like an orchestra or a musical band. Concerts are held in different types of settings or venues like pubs, nightclubs, concert halls, and large multipurpose buildings and sometimes in sports stadium. For a musician concert is that platform where the person is exposed to public. Not only this, concerts are sometimes organized for the sake of charity, where the money collected goes to some causes of benefit.
But this same concert can go very elaborate and expensive if any musical group expects large audiences. In order to make the atmosphere more exciting they add some special entertainment devices like stage lights that changes according to the beat of the music, large video screens that show some per recorded video etc. These things to some extent can be considered as concert music gear.
In concert music one of the important music gears is the drum kit, which is arranged in such a way that makes convenient for one drummer to play it comfortably. The component of a drum kit varies according to the genre of music, personal preferences, financial resources and transportation options of the drummer. The individual instruments of every drum kit are struck with the help of hands, sticks, brushes and mallets. One interesting fact about drum is that it is one of the oldest instruments of the world whose basic design has remained unchanged for nearly thousands of years.
2007 Concerts In Review: Money, Music, Madness
2007 Concerts In Review: Money, Music, Madness
It’s been another tumultuous year in the music industry, a business that’s seeing significant challenges to virtually every aspect of its business model, and that needs the pressure of such change as much as a polar bear needs a heat lamp. With peer-to-peer downloading of music that seems unstoppable no matter how many companies get shut down, bad press generated by poorly conceived punitive lawsuits against said file sharers, declining CD sales, increasing failure among traditional music retail stores, and well-known artists like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails striking out on their own and offering new releases online for free; it seems these days the music industry can’t catch a break.
But with all of this doom and gloom, the one positive for the industry in 2007 has been a relatively strong live concert market. Nostalgia has been the order of the day, with classic rock acts continuing to hit the road, their numbers bolstered by reuniting 80′s acts who’ve either got the itch as part of a midlife crisis, or who want to pad out their retirement income. Just look at the acts currently (week of November 20, 2007) holding the top fifteen spots on Pollstar’s Top 50 list of concert tours:
1. Bon Jovi
2. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band
3. Van Halen

9. Billy Joel
