The Hurricane Felicia heading for Hawaii has been downgraded to a tropical storm. There is still emergency- preparedness to anticipate possible changes and for expected flush floods and heavy rains. As a member of the CERT Community Emergency Response Team I have been privy of the concerted efforts of volunteers and government agencies to be prepared for the worst. I must say I am pretty impressed with it! Considering the disaster of the non-organization for Katrina and the experience of Hurricane Iniki hitting Kauai ’92 I think we are well prepared as much as possible.
With the hopefully not devastating effects of Felicia we can consider this a practice run and wake-up call for individual preparedness! I am a strong believer of preparing for the worst and praying for the best. We in Hawaii always have the potential of Hurricanes coming our way as well as earth crust activities around the islands which can result in smaller or bigger earth quakes.
